7 killed 3 abducted as bandits raid Katsina community set patrol vehicle ablaze

Bandits have launched a deadly overnight assault on Magaji Wando community in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, leaving at least seven people dead and three others kidnapped.

The raid, which began late Friday and stretched into the early hours of Saturday, threw residents into panic.

According to a report by counter-insurgency expert, Zagozola Makama, witnesses recounted that the assailants stormed the community and opened fire indiscriminately. Five victims were killed instantly, while two others later succumbed to gunshot wounds.

During the attack, the bandits seized three people, including two women and a boy.

Members of the C-Watch security outfit moved in to confront the attackers, evacuating the wounded to hospitals in Funtua and Katsina.

But on their return journey, the vigilante group was ambushed, with the bandits killing two more people, injuring eight others, while they also set a patrol vehicle ablaze.
