Plateau Troops capture bandit in Barkin Ladi recover weapon

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division, operating under Operation Enduring Peace, have thwarted an attempted attack on communities in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, sources confirmed that soldiers acting on a distress call apprehended a suspect on September 4 at about 1:40 p.m. in Kaskra, Ropp District of the LGA.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Umar Yakubu, was allegedly armed with an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 11 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition at the time of his arrest.

Preliminary findings indicated that Yakubu was mobilised from the Kuka Bakwi Fulani Camp in Barkin Ladi to launch coordinated attacks on residents of Nding village.

The army disclosed that the suspect is now in custody and undergoing interrogation, while troops continue operations aimed at apprehending other militia members and recovering more weapons.
