Party discipline comes first, no room for impunity – PDP governors tell Wike

Governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have issued a firm warning to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his supporters, pledging to uphold discipline within the party and reject any form of impunity.
Speaking on behalf of the governors at the inauguration of the National Convention Planning Committee on Tuesday, PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, emphasized that the party is ready to confront any attempts to derail its progress.
His comments followed renewed threats from Wike’s camp, which has been challenging the party’s National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

On Monday, after a meeting in Abuja, Wike’s group had outlined six conditions the PDP leadership must meet for the convention to hold without disruption.
In reaction, Mohammed stressed that the governors would not be distracted and that the convention would go ahead as planned.
Bauchi governor declared, “We are not cowards, and we are not afraid of anybody.
“We are capable of navigating this party beyond the shenanigans, beyond the arrogance, and beyond the impunity of others.
“We cannot continue to take part and allow people to take us to the slaughterhouse. That’s our job.
“And our job is to make sure we don’t go to the slaughterhouse.
“And we are working as governors and working with the committee to ensure that. The keyword is discipline.
“We will no longer allow or tolerate anybody to take us for granted. It has to stop. Enough is enough. We are not going to tolerate it any longer.”
