BREAKING : RSIEC announces winners of Rivers LG polls as Fubara loses home turf

The All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged dominant in the Rivers State chairmanship and councillorship elections held on Saturday, clinching 20 out of 23 local government areas.

The Peoples Democratic Party, which currently governs the state, managed to win only three LGAs in the polls conducted by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara suffered a major setback as his Opobo-Nkoro LGA fell to the APC.

Announcing the results at the commission’s headquarters along Aba Road in Port Harcourt on Sunday afternoon, River State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) Chairman, Dr. Michael Odey confirmed the APC’s overwhelming performance.
