29-year-old man arrested over killing of five-year-old boy

A 29-year-old man, Isiaka Hassan, has been arrested by operatives of Adamawa police command over the killing of a five-year-old child in Tingno, Lamurde Local Government Area.

SP Suleiman Nguroje, spokesperson for the command, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday.

Nguroje said the police received a report on August 30 from Hadiza Bashiru that her son, Abba, had gone missing after last being seen with Hassan.

According to him, officers led by the Divisional Police Officer in Tingno immediately launched an operation that led to Hassan’s arrest.

“During interrogation, Hassan confessed to conspiring with another suspect, still at large, to kill the child and bury him in a shallow grave,” Nguroje said.

He added that the body of the victim was exhumed and taken to hospital for autopsy.

Nguroje also stated that Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, had directed the State CID to take over the investigation and track down the fleeing accomplice.

He assured the public of the command’s determination to deliver justice and urged continued cooperation in the fight against violent crime across the state.
