FG splashes N200 000 on Nigerian teenager who won global English contest

The Federal Government has rewarded 17-year-old Nafisah Abdullahi, winner of the TeenEagle Global Finals, with a cash prize of N200,000.

Education Minister, Dr. Tunji Alausa, presented the award on Thursday during a ceremony in Abuja.

The recognition comes shortly after the Atiku Abubakar Foundation (AAF) announced fully-funded scholarships for Abdullahi and her teammates, Rukaiya Fema and Khadija Kalli, who all excelled at the international competition.

In an August 5, 2025 letter signed by the AAF Acting Secretary, Prof. Ahmadu Shehu, the Foundation wrote, “The Atiku Abubakar Foundation is delighted to learn of your outstanding performance at the TeenEagle Global Finals, where you emerged as global winners in various categories of the competition.”

Abdullahi distinguished herself for her mastery of English, critical thinking, and articulate presentation — qualities that helped her outperform contestants from 69 countries.
