Two police officers killed, another injured in shooting incident

A tragic incident rocked the rural town of Porepunkah, Victoria, on Tuesday after a violent confrontation left two police officers dead and a third critically injured.
According to reports, the officers were responding to an “active incident” when they came under fire. While police authorities have yet to provide full details, local media, including Australia’s public broadcaster ABC, confirmed that two officers were killed, one sustained serious injuries, and the suspected gunman remains on the run.
Porepunkah, a quiet community nestled at the foot of a mountain in northeast Victoria, is now at the center of a massive manhunt as law enforcement intensifies efforts to track down the shooter.
“This is still an active incident and we will provide more information when it’s operationally safe to do so. We ask people avoid the area,” Victoria’s police service said in a statement.
The Age newspaper said police were at the property to execute a warrant for historical sex abuse allegations, without giving further details.
