JUST IN: Panic as Kaduna–Abuja passenger train derails
A passenger train heading from Kaduna to Abuja derailed on Tuesday morning, sparking panic among travelers along the busy corridor.
The incident, which occurred around 11:00 a.m., saw several cabins overturn, forcing passengers to scramble for safety. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with some commuters sustaining minor injuries while trying to escape.
The exact cause of the derailment remains unclear. However, past disruptions on the Kaduna–Abuja rail line have been attributed to vandalism and the activities of scavengers who tamper with railway infrastructure.
As of the time of filing this report, officials of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) and security agencies were yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
