JUST IN: Damagum confirmed as PDP national chairman

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially confirmed Umar Damagum as the party’s National Chairman.

The decision was reached on Monday during the party’s 102nd NEC meeting held at its national headquarters in Abuja.

Damagum has been serving in an acting capacity since March 2023, following the suspension of former chairman Iyorchia Ayu—a decision later upheld by the court. Prior to stepping into the role, he held the position of PDP Deputy National Chairman (North).

His confirmation solidifies his leadership as the party prepares for crucial political battles ahead, including the 2027 general elections.
