Panic as lady dies in boyfriend’s residence

Police have begun investigating the sudden death of a woman, Bidemi Omole, who reportedly fell ill and died shortly after arriving at her boyfriend’s home in Esa-Oke, Osun State.
Residents said Bidemi had gone to visit her boyfriend, Yinka, on Friday evening when she suddenly became sick and died not long after. The incident, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the Oke Esa area, drew a large crowd to the scene and left the community in shock.
A neighbour, who identified herself as Taye, recalled hearing calls for help from Yinka’s residence.
“We heard the cry for help and we all ran towards Yinka’s house. But before I got to the scene, a lot of people were already there. I saw some security personnel, but the crowd was a bit much, and it was already late. The deceased was believed to be heading for vigil as of the time the death occurred. She usually attends vigil on Fridays. The police have arrested the boyfriend. He is with them already,” she said.
Confirming the development on Sunday, Osun Police Command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the case was reported to the police on Saturday and that the deceased’s boyfriend had been taken into custody.
“The death occurred on Friday. The deceased, Bidemi Omole, went to her boyfriend’s house, also located in Esa Oke. The boyfriend is identified as Yinka. From what the boyfriend told us, the deceased took ill after arriving at the house and started vomiting. She was rushed to a hospital, but on the way, she gave up the ghost. The suspect is already with the police. Autopsy will be conducted to unravel the cause of the death,” Ojelabi said.
