Media expert slumps, dies in public event

The Ogbunike community in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Comrade Chuma-Odili, popularly known as “Eze Ogbono.”
Chuma-Odili, a respected public relations practitioner and convener of the Anambra Core News Media Advocates, reportedly collapsed on Saturday, August 23, 2025, while attending a gathering organized by a rival contender for the coveted Igwe throne of Ogbunike.
Eyewitnesses said he appeared cheerful moments before the incident, exchanging greetings and preparing to spray money on women dancing at the event, when he unexpectedly fell backward.
The news of his passing has since dominated social media, where tributes continue to pour in. Friends, associates, and colleagues have described him as “a fearless voice,” “a cultural icon,” and “a man who lived life with a big heart.”
Widely admired for his generosity, Chuma-Odili sponsored community projects, funded education for indigent youths, and was an active voice in Ogbunike town development discussions. His quest for the Igwe stool had also drawn both supporters and opponents.
The tragedy has left the entire community stunned, with many calling it “Nnukwu Alu melu na Ogbunike.”
