The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the killing of Samuel Mbami, a student of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, during an early-morning attack by suspected hoodlums.

Bauchí Police Command’s spokesman, Ahmed Wakil, said the assault happened around 3 a.m. on Friday when three armed men broke into a private lodge occupied by two students of the state-owned polytechnic.

Mbami, a National Diploma Mass Communication student, was stabbed in the stomach and later died from excessive bleeding.

“The student succumbed to his injuries after losing a large amount of blood,” Wakil stated, adding that investigators have yet to determine the attackers’ motive.

Reacting to the incident, Students’ Union Government (SUG) President Usman Aliyu described the killing as “tragic and senseless.”

Aliyu demanded a thorough investigation and called on security agencies to intensify patrols around the institution to prevent similar attacks. He also urged students to remain calm, vigilant, and safety-conscious.
