INEC finally announces winner of Zamfara by-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Kamilu Kasuwar Daji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the supplementary poll for the Kaura Namoda South State Constituency in Zamfara State.
Declaring the results, Returning Officer Professor Lawal Sa’ad of the Federal University Gusau said the APC candidate secured 8,182 votes, defeating his closest contender from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 5,543 votes.
He stated, “Kamilu Sa’idu, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, was duly declared winner and returned elected.”
PlatinumPost reports that INEC had earlier declared last week’s Saturday by-election in the constituency inconclusive following cancellation of votes in some polling units, a move that prompted the Thursday supplementary poll.
