Bandits abduct naval officer, family in Kaduna
Tension has gripped residents of Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State after armed bandits abducted a naval officer and members of his family in the early hours of Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
According to reports, the incident happened around 2:00 a.m. when the gunmen invaded Unguwan Mission, Kachia. The attackers reportedly whisked away Seaman Olatunji Enoch, a 40-year-old naval officer attached to NNSAT Kachia, alongside members of his household.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the development, noting that the abduction underscores the worsening insecurity in parts of Kaduna, where bandits have repeatedly targeted both civilians and security personnel.
The assailants also took away his wife, Margaret Olatunji and their daughter, Hellen Bitrus, during the attack.
Security agencies have since launched a manhunt for the perpetrators, with cordon-and-search operations ongoing in surrounding bushes. The operation aims to ensure the safe rescue of the victims without harm.
