Tragedy as tricycle rider knocks down university’s student to death

A tragic accident near the Federal University, Lafia, has claimed the life of a student who was knocked down by a tricycle on August 13, 2025.

Security analyst Zagozola Makama reported that the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. near the institution’s campus.

Sources identified the rider as Fedelis Zak of Agyarangu Tasha in Obi Local Government Area. He was said to be transporting female passengers from Kayarda, Obi LGA, to the university gate when he struck the victim, Ifeoma Nweke.

Police stated that Nweke was attempting to cross the road with friends near the campus speed bumps when she was hit.

She was first rushed to the Federal University Lafia Clinic and later referred to the National Hospital, Abuja, where she died while receiving treatment.

The tricycle rider has been taken into custody, and the vehicle impounded at ‘A’ Division, Lafia, as investigations continue.
