Tinubu appoints new DG, Executive Directors for NTA

President Bola Tinubu has reshuffled the leadership of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), unveiling a new management team.
Renowned media entrepreneur Rotimi Richard Pedro has been named the new Director-General, while Karimah Bello will now serve as Executive Director of Marketing. Stella Din takes over as Executive Director of News, and Sophia Essahmed becomes Managing Director of NTA Enterprises Limited.
Pedro, a Lagos-born media executive with nearly 30 years of experience in broadcasting, sports rights, and marketing communications across Africa, the UK, and the Middle East, is widely regarded for building commercially viable broadcast platforms.
A trained entertainment and intellectual property lawyer, Pedro also holds an MSc in Investment Management & Finance from City University Business School, London.
In 1995, he founded Optima Sports Management International (OSMI), a leading African sports content company that distributed top-tier events such as the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FIFA World Cup, and CAF competitions to audiences in over 40 countries.
His career includes senior roles at Bloomberg Television Africa, Rapid Blue Format, and consultancy work for FIFA, UEFA, Fremantle Media, and the African Union of Broadcasters (AUB) — where he played a pivotal role in securing exclusive pan-African free-to-air media rights for all CAF competitions.
Industry analysts credit him with driving sponsorship revenues, modernizing broadcast content, and delivering world-class programming to African audiences.
This appointment is one of the most significant changes at NTA in recent years, signaling the Federal Government’s intention to modernize and reposition the broadcaster in an increasingly competitive media environment.
