EFCC nabs 47 in Edo over internet fraud, recovers rifle

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 47 individuals in Edo State over alleged involvement in internet fraud.

In a statement issued on Friday, the anti-graft agency confirmed that a pump-action rifle and live cartridges were among items recovered from one of the suspects by operatives of its Benin Zonal Directorate.

“Their arrest on Friday, August 15, 2025 followed credible intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities.

“Other items recovered from them include, six vehicles, mobile phones and laptop computers.

“They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the statement said.
