HURIWA lauds Tinubu over appointment of Peter Eze as FCC Commissioner

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has applauded President Tinubu for appointing Peter Ogbonna Eze as the Federal Character Commission (FCC) Commissioner representing Enugu State.
In a press statement issued on Thursday from Abuja, HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, described the appointment as timely and strategic, given recent reports and complaints of regional imbalances and marginalization in the country.
According to Onwubiko, Peter Eze’s wealth of experience including his service in legislation , his proven business acumen, and his background in governance positions him to make meaningful contributions toward addressing fairness and equity in the distribution of national opportunities.
“We believe in Peter’s capacity to deliver on the mandate of the Federal Character Commission,” Onwubiko stated. “His national call to service should be seen as a call to dedication, professionalism, effective human relations, and emotional intelligence qualities he has consistently demonstrated throughout his career.”
The rights group also extended appreciation to the President for the appointment of former lawmaker Ayo Hulayat Omidiran and 34 other FCC members, expressing hope that their nominations will help to resolve long-standing agitations over marginalization, as well as social, cultural, economic, and historical injustices across Nigeria.
Onwubiko praised Peter Eze as a shining example for Nigerian youths, noting his achievements and experience in governance, business, finance, logistics, and management services. “Peter Eze’s record is highly inspiring to youths globally. It is quite clear that this is a square peg in a square hole,” he said.
HURIWA called on Nigerians to rally behind the newly appointed commissioners, stressing that the effectiveness of the FCC is crucial to fostering unity, national cohesion, and equitable development in the country.
