TRCN, GMIND AI sign agreement to build AI-powered platform for Nigerian teachers

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has entered into a partnership with GMIND AI to create an artificial intelligence-driven platform designed to provide contextualized and simulated lesson plans for classrooms across the country.
At the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in Abuja on Wednesday, TRCN Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, said the project is expected to transform lesson planning and elevate teaching standards nationwide.
She announced that the platform will go live on October 6, following the unveiling of TRCN’s upgraded website on August 25, which will feature multilingual video tutorials. Nationwide training programs will also be rolled out, covering all six geopolitical zones.
“We want AI-generated lesson plans that are contextualised for our children. Every lesson will also be simulated, because 21st-century learners need to see and experience concepts for learning to be profound,” she said.
Unlike generic tools, the TRCN-GMIND platform will embed Nigerian history, culture, and realities into its content. “Our children can still learn about the Victorians, but they must also learn about the Ife and Benin Kingdoms in the same breath,” Soyombo added.
The system will offer two resource streams: AI-generated simulations for digitally proficient teachers and ready-made, prescriptive lesson plans for educators with limited ICT skills, ensuring inclusivity.
Soyombo said the resource bank will span every subject and be available online, through TRCN state offices, and in downloadable formats. The platform will also tailor content to gifted, average, and less able learners, with a strong emphasis on hands-on, practical teaching.
“This is teachers supporting teachers,” she said, explaining that exemplary educators will help craft the prescriptive lessons. “Once the burden of lesson planning is reduced, teachers can focus on adapting materials to their learners’ needs.”
Although the system is primarily designed for Nigerian teachers, she noted it will be accessible to all TRCN-registered and licensed educators.
Dr. Deji Ajani, GMIND AI’s Director of Strategic Partnership and Innovation, described the collaboration as a milestone for African education.
“We are excited to co-create TRCN AI, a customised ecosystem that blends cutting-edge technology with Nigeria’s unique educational needs,” Ajani said.
