Police nab wanted 18-year-old thug for murder in Niger

The Niger State Police Command has apprehended 18-year-old Jamilu Abdullahi, a notorious thuggery suspect linked to armed robbery and culpable homicide.
Police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement on Monday, August 11, 2025, revealed that the suspect was caught in possession of a sharp pointed iron, allegedly used to stab and rob his victims.
According to the PPRO, Abdullahi had long been on the command’s wanted list over a suspected murder case.

“Further to the clamp down on thuggery and other criminality in Minna metropolis and its environs, on 2nd August, 2025 at about 12am intelligence-led raid operation carried out around Stadium road Minna by the Police operatives attached to ‘A’ Div Minna led to the arrest of one Jamilu Abdullahi a.k.a Zabo 18yrs of Abdulsalam quarters with a pointed sharp iron used in st3bbing and robbing victims. The suspect has been on the wanted list of the Command for suspected culpable homicide of other persons, and he has been on the run,” the statement read.
“He was reported to be among the gang leaders of Musa Kaura, Kaule and Gaiye terrorising Angwan-Daji, Limawa, New-Market and Maitumbi areas. He has been transferred to SCID Minna and assisting the Police investigation with a view to arrest other members of his gang. He will be charged to court for prosecution after investigation.
“Similarly on 6th August, 2025 at about 3am-5am, the Anti-thuggery unit of the Command conducted a sting operation in Barkin-Sale areas and four additional suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons as follows; three sharp knives, scissors and suspected cannabis. All suspects are under investigation.”
