Many injured as farmers herdsmen clash in Abuja community

At least nine persons were injured in a violent confrontation between Bassa farmers and Fulani herdsmen in Gomoni Village, Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, reported that the altercation erupted around 3:30 p.m. on August 9 after cattle allegedly destroyed melon and maize farms belonging to the Bassa community.

Following a distress call, Nigerian Army troops, a joint security team, and local vigilantes were deployed to the scene.

Six Bassa and three Fulani victims, all with varying degrees of machete wounds, were taken to Rhema Foundation Hospital in Kwali for treatment.

Authorities have confirmed that the situation is now under control, with normalcy restored, while investigations into the incident continue.
