Tragedy as Ghana loses top ministers in fatal helicopter crash

Ghana has been thrown into mourning following a tragic helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region that claimed the lives of Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, along with six others on board.
The fatal crash occurred on Wednesday, sending shockwaves across the country and prompting an outpouring of grief from citizens and government officials alike.
The Chief of Staff to the President, Julius Debrah, confirmed the incident in a video statement, describing it as a devastating loss for the nation.
Earlier, the Ghana Armed Forces had raised concerns after losing contact with a Z9 helicopter en route from Accra to Obuasi, a mining town in the southern part of the country.
The ill-fated aircraft was carrying five passengers and three crew members at the time.
In honour of the deceased, Debrah announced that Ghana’s national flags would be flown at half-mast until further notice.
