Kelley Mack, the talented actress best known for her role in the hit post-apocalyptic series The Walking Dead, has passed away at the age of 33.

Born Kelley Klebenow, the actress “passed away peacefully” on Saturday in her hometown of Cincinnati, according to a heartfelt post shared on CaringBridge.

Mack had been battling glioma, a rare and aggressive tumor affecting the brain and spinal cord.

“It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go,” read a message shared on Mack’s Instagram Tuesday, along with a photo of her.

Friends, colleagues, and fans have shared their condolences, remembering her as a kind person and gifted performer.

“What an incredible human. So proud to have fought alongside her in our final episode together,” wrote The Walking Dead co-star Alanna Masterson.

According to the CaringBridge post, Mack had 35 acting credits and five producer credits during her career. She was widely recognized for playing Addy in season 9 of The Walking Dead, and Penelope Jacobs in season 8 of Chicago Med and FOX’s 9-1-1. She also worked in voice-over and commercials, appearing in ads for Dr. Pepper, Ross, Dairy Queen, Chick-fil-A, and more.

Her interest in storytelling started early after receiving a mini video camera as a birthday gift. She began acting in commercials as a child.

“Kelley was known for her warmth, creativity and unwavering support for those around her. Her infectious enthusiasm and dedication to her work inspired countless others in the industry and beyond,” the statement said.

Mack graduated from Hinsdale Central High School and earned a degree in cinematography from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in California.

She is survived by her parents, Kristen and Lindsay Klebenow; her sister Kathryn and brother Parker; grandparents Lois and Larry Klebenow; and her boyfriend Logan Lanier.

“Kelley’s legacy will live on through her contributions to film and television, and in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed by forever remembered for her talent, kindness and vibrant spirit,” the statement said.
