Ogun residents applaud military’s peace-building initiatives

Residents of Ogun State have expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Armed Forces for their ongoing non-kinetic initiatives aimed at fostering peace and unity in the region.
The commendation came on Tuesday during a Peace and Development rally held in Sagamu and organised by the Unity Advocacy Group (UAG).
According to a statement by the group’s Convener, Ifeanyi Aigbedion, the rally sought to encourage harmony among the state’s diverse ethnic communities.
He explained that the people of Ogun State have embraced the non-kinetic measures, which have helped strengthen peaceful coexistence and build trust between the military and civilians.
“The non kinetic activities has boosted the relationship between the public and the Armed Forces. The people see the military as their own and have continued to support them to keep peace.
“The people are also willing to support the troops by giving relevant information needed to boost their operations.
“The people urged the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa not to give breathing space to enemies who have refused to give peace a chance,” he said.
The group further noted that residents recognise peace and stability as vital foundations for sustainable development.
The rally, which also took place in Mowe, Ogun State, underscored the military’s non-kinetic approach as a key tool in strengthening civil-military relations and advancing community development.
It comes as the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, recently reaffirmed during a media briefing marking two years of ongoing operations that the Armed Forces continue to apply both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies—balancing firmness with compassion in addressing Nigeria’s complex security challenges.
