One feared dead houses burnt as Fulani herders natives clash in Plateau

Tension flared in Plateau State on Sunday, August 4, as a violent communal clash between suspected Fulani herders and local residents of Rwan and Kopmon communities in the Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area resulted in the death of a woman and the destruction of several houses.

The incident was confirmed by the Youth President of Mushere District, who said he promptly alerted security operatives at around 8:10 a.m. after violence erupted in the area.

While the exact cause of the conflict remains uncertain, local sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that tensions between the two groups had been building, possibly sparking the confrontation.

Security sources confirmed that troops of the Nigerian Army, along with operatives of the Joint Task Force, were swiftly deployed to the area to restore order and prevent further violence.

Efforts are reportedly ongoing to identify and arrest the perpetrators of the attack, while surveillance has been intensified in the affected communities to prevent any further escalation.
