Tragedy as man commits suicide over alleged infidelity in Imo

Tragedy struck the Lawa community in Ogbaku, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, on Sunday when a man identified as Reginald reportedly took his own life amid allegations of infidelity involving his wife.

Residents woke up to the shocking sight of Reginald’s lifeless body dangling from a tree in the compound of a man known as Ukachukwu, who is alleged to be romantically involved with Reginald’s wife.

According to community sources, the incident has sent shockwaves through the village, sparking outrage and deep concern among locals.

A villager who pleaded anonymity said the deceased severally complained about the amorous relationship between his wife and Ukachukwu, but was rebuffed by his wife.

The man narrated, “We woke up this morning to see the dangling body of Reginald in the compound of Ukachukwu. We had seen him complain about his wife and Ukachukwu but nobody knew it would drive him to commit suicide. He has the entire community in confusion because we have not witnessed anything like this in the past”, the source said.

Efforts to get the reaction of the Spokesperson, Imo State Police Command, DSP Henry Okoye, proved abortive as his phone line was switched off.
