Tension as newborn baby stolen from hospital in Ekiti

Panic has gripped the Okeyinmi Health Centre in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, following the shocking disappearance of a newborn baby from the facility.

According to an eyewitness account, the incident was discovered early Monday morning when nurses on duty went to attend to the infant, only to realize she was missing.

The sudden disappearance has left hospital staff and patients in shock, sparking concerns over the safety and security within the health centre.

The members of staff in the ward, the mother of the baby, security guard and other suspects have been taken to the police station for further interrogation.

Some traders around the hospital were left dumbfounded on the incident.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, said four suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime and are “giving credible information that will aid the investigation process”

Abutu said the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Eribo, has directed the state CID to conduct a through investigation and ensure the recovery of the baby.
