A Nigerian soldier serving under Operation Hadin Kai has died, while two colleagues sustained injuries, in a lone accident involving a military operations vehicle along the Damaturu–Jos highway in Yobe State.

Sources confirmed the incident to security analyst Zagazola Makama on Friday, noting that the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on July 31 near Garri Tasha in the Damagum area of Fune Local Government Area.

According to reports, the vehicle—belonging to Sector 2 Headquarters in Damaturu—was transporting personnel on special duty to Jos when the driver lost control, causing the truck to plunge into a deep pit.

Emergency responders from Damagum quickly arrived at the scene and assisted in rescuing two soldiers who suffered severe injuries. They were taken to Damagum General Hospital, with one of them, Sgt. Salami Ahmed, later transferred to Yobe State University Teaching Hospital in Damaturu for advanced medical care.

A private soldier was confirmed dead at the scene. His remains were evacuated and handed over to his unit commander.
