Gunmen Attack

A lecturer from Taraba State University has been kidnapped by suspected armed men along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari highway while travelling from Abuja to Jalingo.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the abduction occurred on Thursday, July 31, around 8:30 p.m., between Janda-Ikula and Ikyior communities in Wukari Local Government Area.

A local hunter, who escorted one of the victims to report the matter, confirmed the incident. The victim, identified as Mr. Emmanuel Bibinu, a 42-year-old businessman from the Ichen ethnic group, recounted the attack.

Bibinu said he was travelling in a private vehicle with the kidnapped lecturer, Engineer Joshua Saleh, a 38-year-old academic staff member at Taraba State University, when they were ambushed by four armed men.

He explained that the attackers, carrying a firearm and three cutlasses, shot at the front tyres of their car, forcing it to stop. The men then took valuables, including a Samsung Galaxy G10 valued at ₦1.7 million and ₦83,000 in cash.

After leading both men into the bush, the kidnappers held Saleh while Bibinu managed to escape. He ran to Ikyior village, where a hunter rescued him and took him to the police station.
