Gawuna out as Tinubu appoints new governing council’s chairman of Bayero University

President Bola Tinubu has appointed retired Air Vice Marshal Saddiq Kaita as the new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Bayero University, Kano, replacing Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.

Dr. Gawuna, who also serves as Chairman of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), was relieved of the university role to allow him focus on his duties at the FHA, according to a statement issued by the presidency on Friday.

“Before retiring from the Nigerian Air Force, AVM Saddiq Ismaila Kaita was Director of Strategy at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) and Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation.

“He is known for his contributions to training and standardisation within the Air Force,” the statement said.
