EFCC nabs 47 alleged internet scammers in Benin

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Benin Zonal Directorate, has taken 47 suspected internet fraudsters into custody following coordinated operations across various parts of Benin City, Edo State, on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

According to a terse statement from the anti-graft agency, the arrests were carried out after credible intelligence linked the individuals to alleged online fraud activities.

During the operation, EFCC operatives seized 16 luxury vehicles along with several mobile phones.

The commission noted that the suspects would face prosecution once ongoing investigations are completed.
