I have no ties to ADC says Saraki

Former Senate President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Dr. Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday convened a closed-door meeting with key party stakeholders in Ilorin, Kwara State, to address growing concerns and speculations surrounding the ongoing coalition discussions among opposition parties.

The strategic meeting, held at Saraki’s residence in the GRA area of Ilorin, was aimed at fostering internal unity and transparency within the party.

Before journalists were asked to exit the session, Saraki described the gathering as a “family meeting,” emphasizing the need to keep party members informed and aligned during a time of shifting political alliances.

“I’m here as a democrat whose people have asked to clarify a number of issues about the party. You have all been observing what’s happening at the national level and you want to know the situation. I owe you that, to come down and explain to you,” he said.

“You’re all aware of innuendoes making the rounds about what I know and what I don’t know. I believe I must come and let you hear from the horse’s mouth, so you can know the true position of the matter. I don’t have anything to do with the ADC and have not told anybody to join the coalition.”

Saraki charged members to take the continuous voter registration exercise, scheduled to commence on August 18, 2025, seriously.

He commended their commitment during the party’s last membership revalidation exercise and urged them to remain active in party affairs.

Speaking earlier, the PDP Chairman in the state, Hon. Babatunde Mohammed, dismissed claims that the PDP was part of any coalition arrangement.

“The PDP is intact in Kwara State. We are not part of any coalition. PDP remains the only opposition party in the country, and we are confident of victory in the next general elections,” Mohammed declared.

He further informed members about the forthcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and the state congress.

According to him, nomination forms for the State Executive Council would be sold at N1 million for chairmanship aspirants and N20,000 for ward executive positions.

Also speaking, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Olushola Adewara, cautioned members against engaging with any coalition groups.

“In case you are invited by any coalition, shun such engagement. The PDP is one under our leader and former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, who has shown uncommon leadership in keeping the party united and focused on 2027,” he said.
