 BREAKING APC gets new national chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially appointed Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as its new National Chairman.

His appointment was confirmed during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, in Abuja.

The nomination was moved by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, and seconded by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abba Tajudeen.

Following unanimous support from the NEC members, Professor Yilwatda was immediately sworn into office.

He took over from Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who stepped down recently due to health reasons.

Professor Yilwatda is currently the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and was once a university lecturer. He is from Plateau State and was the APC’s candidate for governor in the 2023 elections.

His selection follows an agreement reached during a late-night meeting in Abuja between President Bola Tinubu and APC governors.

56 -year – old Yilwatda is from Plateau State and was the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the state during the 2023 general elections.
