PDP Reps’ member dumps party for APC

In a notable political shift, Esset Mark Udo, a member of the House of Representatives, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Udo, who represents the Uyo/Uruan/Nsit Atai/Asutan/Ibesikpo Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State, made the announcement during the House plenary session on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
The lawmaker, who also chairs the House Committee on Interparliamentary Relations, did not immediately disclose detailed reasons for his defection.
In a letter addressed to the leadership of the Green Chamber, Udo said, “I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“As a representative of Uyo/Uruan/Nsit Atai/Asutan/Ibesikpo federal constituency of Akwa Ibom State, I have already tendered my resignation letter to my former party, PDP.
“I have joined the APC both at my ward level, the Local Government Level and the state level.
“This was after due consultations with my constituents, this position is due to the irreconcilable crisis rocking the party, PDP at the national level.”
