Jake Paul confirms heavyweight showdown with Anthony Joshua, says ‘I’ll shock the world’

Jake Paul has officially confirmed that he will step into the ring with British boxing superstar Anthony Joshua in a blockbuster bout set for next year at Wembley Stadium.
The American influencer and rising fighter shared the news during his appearance at Wembley, where he witnessed Oleksandr Usyk’s dominant fifth-round knockout victory over Daniel Dubois.
Speaking to DAZN, Paul said: “Yeh 100 per cent it’s going to happen. We’re going to do the unthinkable and create one of the biggest fights in the history of boxing.
“It’s not even about it being realistic or not, it’s gonna happen so fasten your seatbelts.
“And when I knock him out I’ll go down in the history books forever.”
Paul’s presence at the Usyk-Dubois clash caught the attention of fans and media alike. He later expanded on his plans while speaking to talkSPORT, expressing confidence in what many would consider a stunning underdog scenario.
“I’m here for the vibes and the fight, Usyk is one of my favourite fights, I’m here to enjoy Wembley,” he said.
“Its gonna happen, I want it to happen here, all the odds stacked against me.
“I believe I’ll beat him and shock the world and create one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.
“I see (Fury is backing me), he’s a smart lad. I love it, the UK fans really love boxing even more than American fans.
“I’m going around the pubs, asking all the people what they think about the fight, love the atmosphere.
“And this is always history when you’re at Wembley.”
Although the proposed fight had already been hinted at by influential boxing figure Turki Alalshikh, Paul’s confirmation has now made it official in the eyes of many fans.
Alalshikh previously said: “I’m not against what Jake Paul’s doing in boxing, it’s good for boxing to have a young generation.
“I’m against some kinds of fights he does. I’m now thinking him against Joshua. Joshua, if he destroys (Paul), it will be good for me.
“The headache of Jake Paul goes from my mind. If Jake Paul wins, I will know that Joshua is finished and Jake Paul deserves to be ring king and deserves to have a future in boxing.
“I don’t want 50-50. In this situation I want 99-1. Jake Paul’s accepted. Now next week I will talk with Joshua about it.”
With both fighters seemingly on board, the countdown to one of boxing’s most unlikely but anticipated matchups appears to have begun.
