Gunmen open fire on Anambra PDP governorship candidate in Abuja

Jude Ezenwafor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, narrowly escaped death on Friday night after he was shot by unknown gunmen in Abuja.

Ezenwafor is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in the nation’s capital, where he is scheduled to undergo surgery to remove bullets lodged in his body.

Speaking from his hospital bed in the early hours of Saturday, the visibly injured politician recounted the harrowing incident, which occurred around Wuse 2 as he was heading home from an engagement.

“I’m currently in the hospital. The doctors are making efforts to operate me so that they can pull out bullets from my body,” he said.

Two other individuals who were with Ezenwafor at the time of the attack were also shot during the assault. Their conditions remain unclear as of press time.

The motive behind the attack is yet to be established, and security agencies have not issued an official statement.
