 Another senator dumps PDP

The gale of defection rocking the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) appears far from over as Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi-Ajagunla, who represents Osun Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has formally withdrawn his membership of the party.

His departure adds to the growing list of notable PDP members in Osun State who have exited the party, following closely on the heels of Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi of Osun East, who also resigned recently, citing unresolvable issues with the party’s leadership.

Fadeyi-Ajagunla made his resignation known through a letter he personally signed, dated June 12, 2025. The letter was addressed to the chairman of PDP Ward 3 in Oke-Ejigbo, Ila-Orangun.

In the letter, the senator wrote: “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my Membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect.

“Irreconcilable difference and irreparable division that have emerged and court cases and counter court cases in the last 3 years which has Created faction in the party at the National level.

“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends.

“Thanking you in advance for accepting my resignation.
“Thank you.”

His resignation underscores continuing tensions within the PDP, especially at the national level, where internal legal disputes and factionalism have plagued the party in recent years.
