7 killed as bandits ambush Zamfara community guards seize weapons

Armed bandits have launched a deadly assault in Jangebe town, Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing five Community Protection Guard (CPG) members and two civilians.

According to counter-insurgency expert Zagozola Makama, security sources confirmed that the incident unfolded on Friday afternoon when five CPG operatives, including their Unit Commander, were assisting with farming activities on the outskirts of the village.

The attackers reportedly ambushed the group as they worked on the farm, gunning down all five CPG personnel. Two civilians—a man and a woman—working on a nearby farm were also killed during the onslaught.

The assailants made away with two pump-action rifles belonging to the slain guards.

In response, security forces have launched a manhunt to track down the perpetrators and have pledged to bring them to justice.
