NYSC member killed by suspected motorcycle thieves in Abuja

A serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Shuaibu Adamu, has been tragically killed by suspected motorcycle snatchers in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to local sources, the incident occurred on Sunday night, July 13, 2025, around 8 p.m., near AA Rano filling station along the Abuja-Lokoja highway. Adamu, who was returning home on his motorcycle, was ambushed by a group of unidentified hoodlums.
A resident of Gwargwada, Suleiman Ibrahim, said the attackers struck Adamu on the head with a hammer before fleeing with his motorcycle. “He was just a young corps member trying to get home. It’s heartbreaking,” Ibrahim stated.
According to him, some neighbours who were passing by later identified him and alerted his relatives, who evacuated him to the hospital.
Ibrahim said the corps member, who a native of Abaji Area Council of the FCT, was pronounced d3ad by doctors at the hospital on Monday night, saying his remains were taken to Abaji and buried on Tuesday.
According to Daily Trust, the deceased corps member was the son of Alhaji Salihu Kakamba, the district head of Unguwar Sabon- Tasha in Abaji Area Council.
A graduate of Political Science from the Federal University Gashua, Yobe State, Shuaibu Adamu was serving with a secondary school in Kogi LGA of Kogi State.
He had visited a family member in Gwagwalada on Sunday when he was attacked by the motorcycle snatchers.
The district head, Alhaji Salihu Kankamba who spoke with the publication, said he was heartbroken over the incident and prayed for Allah to grant his son eternal rest in paradise.
