Real reason I missed Buhari’s burial – Peter Obi

Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has responded to public concerns surrounding his absence at the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari, which was held on Tuesday in Daura, Katsina State.
Obi’s nonappearance at the high-profile event sparked criticism from some observers who expected his presence as a mark of respect to the late leader.
Addressing the backlash, the former Anambra State governor clarified that logistical issues specifically, his inability to secure a flight to Katsina prevented him from attending the funeral.

“I had made arrangements to attend, but unfortunately, I could not get a flight to Katsina on time,” Obi stated.
Obi was able to make it to Daura on Wednesday, where he commiserated with the family of the late former President.
“It was difficult to come yesterday (Tuesday) because there was no flight,” Obi told Arise TV. “Even if there was a flight, you couldn’t land in Katsina Airport. It was all closed, because there was a lot of dignitaries.
“Mourning continues until tomorrow. So, whoever comes today and tomorrow, is still part of the mourning.
