BREAKING: Atiku resigns from PDP

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has officially severed ties with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), bringing an end to a decades-long political journey with the party he once helped shape and lead.
In a resignation letter dated July 14, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in his Jada 1 Ward, Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Atiku announced his departure from the party with immediate effect.
Citing irreconcilable differences and a departure from the founding ideals of the PDP, Atiku expressed disappointment with the party’s current trajectory, signaling a deep rift between his vision and the present leadership’s direction.
Atiku express “profound gratitude” for the opportunities PDP gave him over the years, especially his two-term tenure as Vice President and two presidential runs under the party’s platform.
He concluded by wishing the party and its leadership well, saying: “Thank you once again for the opportunities and support.”
