2027 Backing Tinubu key to deepening peace development in Niger Delta Otuaro

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has called on Niger Delta stakeholders to stand firm in their support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing it as crucial for sustaining peace, stability, and socio-economic development in the region.

Otuaro made this call during a three-day strategic leadership and mediation training held in Abuja. The event, organised by the PAP in partnership with the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, brought together key participants from across the Niger Delta.

According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Igoniko Oduma, on Wednesday , Otuaro emphasized the importance of building upon the region’s hard-won peace to ensure meaningful growth and to align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He reiterated Tinubu’s steadfast commitment to the region’s development, assuring participants that the President would not waver in delivering on his promises.

He said Tinubu had, through his early actions in office, demonstrated integrity and genuine concern for the people of the Niger Delta—unlike others who have exploited the region for political gain.

Otuaro explained that the capacity-building workshop was a reflection of his determination to deepen stakeholder engagement in PAP activities while complementing Tinubu’s development vision for the Niger Delta.

He highlighted some of the programme’s achievements over the past year, including the expansion of scholarship opportunities, increased access to vocational training for ex-agitators, and a broader push for inclusivity in PAP operations.

Declaring the training open, he told attendees that the workshop was designed to empower them with skills that would enable them to play more active roles in the region’s peace process.

He said, “Let me inform us that the objectives of this initiative, in the main, highlights the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and his administration’s strong commitment and dedication to sustainable peace, security, stability, socio-economic growth and development of the Niger Delta and indeed the country.

“I am most grateful to President Tinubu for his massive support to the PAP, particularly his gracious approval of my recent proposal to set up a Rehabilitation Unit in the programme, a vital component which was not in place before now. This will help cater to related aspects of the programme’s mandate.

“I urge all stakeholders and the people of the Niger Delta to continue to support President Tinubu and work resolutely with his administration to do more for the region, even in the coming years. He will not fail the region, I assure you.”

Otuaro also acknowledged the role of the Office of the National Security Adviser, saying, “for his encouragement and flawless supervision of the programme, which have led to the success stories recorded by the programme under my leadership.

Encouraging active participation in the training sessions, he stated that the lessons learned would serve as essential tools for peacebuilding within communities.

“Therefore, this strategic workshop is a platform designed to sharpen your leadership skills and deepen your understanding of the essence of conflict resolution and mediation, to bring about peace and development in our communities and region in the implementation of the PAP’s mandate,” he said.
