Social media influencer, Dan Bello, briefly detained by DSS at Kano airport

Bello Galadanci, a prominent social media personality popularly known as Dan Bello, was momentarily taken into custody by security personnel on Saturday at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
The brief arrest, which happened shortly after his flight landed, drew attention from fellow travelers and airport staff as officials—believed to be from the Department of State Services (DSS)—escorted him away.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the operatives, suspected to have come from Abuja, did not provide any immediate explanation for the arrest, leaving bystanders puzzled.
A confidant of Galadanci, who requested anonymity, said that the situation was quickly resolved and the influencer was released shortly thereafter.
“It was DSS operatives that took him but released him after some minutes. Maybe they received another order that overrode the initial one. But he is now free and doing well,” the source said.
Known for his comedic and satirical content that often delves into social and political commentary, Dan Bello has built a substantial following across Northern Nigeria. His videos, which blend humor with critical takes on current issues, are widely shared across platforms.
As of press time, the reason for the brief detention has not been disclosed, and the DSS has yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter.
