Lagos LG poll : PDP clinches surprise victory in Yaba ward

In an unexpected outcome during the Lagos local government elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged victorious in the councillorship race for Ward D within the Yaba Local Council Development Area.

Babatunde Dosunmu, the PDP candidate and a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defeated the ruling party’s contender, delivering what many observers see as a notable upset in the state’s political scene.

This win stands out as the sole councillorship seat secured by the PDP among the 376 contested positions across Lagos State’s 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas.

The election in the Yaba area was briefly marred by minor altercations between party supporters on Saturday. Prompt action by the Lagos State Police Command helped de-escalate tensions and ensured that voting proceeded without further incident.
