Defection to APC : We’ll support your decision, Osun PDP tells Gov Adeleke

Amid growing speculation that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke may defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus has declared its full support for any political decision he makes.
At a high-level meeting held Thursday in Osogbo, party leaders endorsed Adeleke’s leadership and pledged to stand by him, regardless of the party platform he ultimately chooses.
In a statement issued Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed, the caucus reaffirmed its confidence in Adeleke’s administration and encouraged him to continue wide consultations both within and outside the state.
“The caucus resolved to follow Governor Adeleke wherever he goes,” Rasheed said, noting that the governor is still weighing his options.
The meeting brought together a broad spectrum of the party’s leadership, including members of the National and State Assemblies, state executive council members, the Special Advisers’ Forum, Elders Caucus, and leaders of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Osun.
While Adeleke has not officially declared any intention to leave the PDP, political circles remain abuzz with speculation as the August 8, 2026, governorship election approaches.
