The suspects

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke have apprehended two suspects and uncovered a significant cache of illegal arms in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The operation, which was based on actionable intelligence, targeted suspected criminal enclaves in Gayama village, where soldiers carried out a coordinated raid.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that two individuals—identified as Haruna Samari and Dantala Mamman—were arrested during the sweep. Both were allegedly found in possession of illegal firearms and related equipment.

Items recovered at the scene included one submachine gun, a loaded magazine containing 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, an empty 7.62mm shell casing, two locally fabricated rifles, three single-barrel guns, three Dane guns, five live cartridges, four spent cartridge cases, a Beofeng communication radio, and a helmet.

Authorities confirmed that the suspects are currently in military custody and are being interrogated.

Commending the success of the operation, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, praised the troops for their prompt and effective action. He reiterated the Army’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of communities across Taraba State.

The commander also expressed gratitude to local residents for their support and encouraged the public to continue sharing reliable information with security agencies to aid ongoing counter-crime efforts.
