 IGP appoints new police commissioners to Borno Osun Jigawa others

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the deployment of new Commissioners of Police to five state commands and two departments within the Nigeria Police Force.

Those affected by the postings include CP Naziru D. Abdulmajid, who assumes command in Borno State; CP Bello Rasheed Afegbua,  posted to Cross River State; CP Dahiru Mohammed to Jigawa State; CP Adebowale Lawal to Ondo State; and CP Ibrahim Gotan to Osun State.

In addition to the state commands, CP Eloho Edwin Okpoziakpo has been deployed to the Department of Training and Development at Force Headquarters, while CP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosayin will serve as Commissioner of Police in charge of General Investigation at the FCID Annex in Gombe State.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

“Following the recent approval of postings for Commissioners of Police to Commands and Formations across the country, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has charged them to uphold the principles of professionalism and quality leadership towards ensuring their various states are rid of criminal elements who threaten national security. These postings, which takes immediate effect, are in furtherance of the IGP’s vision to ensure professional leadership in critical areas and enhance the operational effectiveness of the Force,” the statement read.

The IGP also reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to public safety and national security. He appealed to citizens for sustained cooperation in the fight against crime.
