FCT projects : Gov, other top politicians present as Wike holds Thanksgiving Service

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Sunday hosted a thanksgiving service in Abuja to celebrate what he described as the successful execution and commissioning of several major infrastructure projects.
The service was held at St. James Anglican Church in Asokoro and was broadcast live on national television networks, including Arise TV, News Central, and Africa Independent Television (AIT).
Among the notable guests in attendance were Governor Monday Okphebholo of Edo State, former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom and former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Wike had earlier declared a 19-day schedule of project inaugurations starting June 10, as part of events marking the second anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The initiative was widely publicized, with front-page advertisements appearing in various newspapers across the country during the rollout.

Projects unveiled during the period included the newly refurbished Abuja International Conference Centre (ICC), the road connecting Idu to Zuba, the route from the A2 junction to Pai town, and the stretch from Life Camp junction to Ring Road.
President Tinubu personally commissioned the renovated ICC, which has since been renamed in his honour.
The project, which reportedly cost N39 billion, drew public scrutiny. In response, Wike defended the expenditure, stating: “Those criticising the project do not have good taste. Nigeria, as the giant of Africa, must not only show that it is the giant of Africa; people must see what makes you to be the giant of Africa.”
“Nobody who loves this country would criticise the International Conference Centre,” he added.
