Enough is enough Atiku declares war on election rigging bad governance
Atiku Abubakar

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has vowed to resist election rigging and challenge ineffective leadership, as momentum builds among opposition groups aiming to dislodge President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, Atiku disclosed that he made the commitment during a meeting held on Friday with political stakeholders from Gombe State. The delegation was led by former Minister and Senator Idris Abdullahi.

The visit, according to reports, was a demonstration of support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has recently been adopted by the opposition coalition as its central platform to contest against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming elections.

During the meeting, Atiku voiced his concerns over what he described as a steady decline in governance standards, insisting that Nigerians are entitled to a leadership that genuinely prioritizes their well-being.

“Yesterday, I vowed to stand against the stealing of elections and oppose bad governance. I stressed that enough is enough, and that Nigerians cannot continue to suffer amidst an abundance of resources owing to bad governance,” Atiku stated.

The former vice president went on to affirm that the coalition’s leadership under the ADC is committed to initiating the kind of change that will meaningfully improve the lives of Nigerians.

“The quality of the interim leadership shows that we are ready to bring integrity to the process and give Nigerians the responsible leadership they deserve,” he said.

Atiku also welcomed the endorsement by the Gombe stakeholders, describing their alignment with the ADC as further evidence that the coalition is on the right track.

He reflected on his past involvement in the state’s political development, recalling his support for former Governor Danjuma Goje’s rise to power in 2003.

“The delegation reminded him of the role he played in laying the foundation for Gombe’s development,” Atiku added.
