National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members currently serving in Akwa Ibom State will soon receive a significant boost in their monthly stipend, following a new directive from Governor Umo Eno.

Speaking at the State Delivery Meeting held on Friday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Uyo, Eno revealed that the monthly state allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members has been raised from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000.

According to the governor, the new allowance will be implemented starting August 1, aligning with efforts to complement the Federal Government’s ₦77,000 monthly payment to corps members.

“More than 10,000 corps members are posted to Akwa Ibom annually. We must continue to encourage and support them,” Eno said.

This development comes on the heels of another recent announcement by the governor approving the renovation of the NYSC Orientation Camp located at Ikot Itie Idung, aimed at enhancing the welfare of corps members across the state.
